2021 Life in Colour – March: Green

Jude, from the inspiring blog Travel Worlds is running the 2021 Life in Colour Monthly Challenge and has chosen green for March. Jude has upped the challenge by encouraging participants to look beyond nature for greens… So here are a few photos from my archive. Also 2 other ‘green’ images: not photos, so outside the challenge, but images of current importance, and green!

Leaving nature, arguably the most obvious connection aside, the ubiquitous green is also naturally synonymous with movement, so I’m looking at green vehicles. Drawing from the connection with nature, the colour green also signifies environmental friendliness, restoration, respite, & solace, so those elements also feature.

Nearer to home – one of the 2019 Horsham Americana Car festival entries, an equally iconic, wonderfully rusty vintage green truck.

Each proudly green, but far removed from the green vehicles of today.

A more local green vehicle with ‘green‘ credentials

I’ve always loved milk floats. It’s long been an ambition of mine to own one. Now, the arguments for owning an electric vehicle are increasingly easier to make. It’s still pretty tricky for me to form a strong case for replacing the Audi with a milk float, but I have absolute faith in technology…

‘Electric Milk Floats’ is a local workshop that specialises in sourcing, renovating and skillfully converting milk floats to suit individual customers’ varied needs. The cobalt green van below is part way through conversion for a wedding venue, destined to transport visitors from the car park to the marriage bough. It’s new form features a large U shaped white leather sofa, with & ivy garland, where white filled bottles would have previously sat!

‘Green‘ holidays in green vans

More iconic green vehicles – this time, memories of 2019, when we booked a ‘green’ stay at the totally unique, eco friendly ‘Mad Dogs & Vintage Vans’ in Ross on Wye. (See also header image, ‘Monty’)

All decommissioned in terms of being moving vehicles, and all sporting glossy green paint.

Each imaginatively repurposed to give a second lease of life – you can’t get greener than that!

And our own ‘Dolly’, a chirpy lime green 1971 Musketeer.

Good to Go – UK holidays reopen!

A current green: Visit Britain’s Good to Go scheme boasts green branding to signify positivity and confidence as the kitemark indicating ‘go’ for stays in the UK which so many are looking forward to.
